Chiara from Rome, Italy
Hello everybody! I’m Chiara (but you can call me Charlie if you wish) I’m 22 and I live in Rome, as you can clearly see from the picture in front of the Colosseum. I have many passions and interests: among them the ones that I love the most are for sure travelling and art history. That’s why I choose Science of Tourism as my bachelor at university, in which I graduated last summer. From that time, I decided to take a gap year to explore the world a little more and hopefully gaining a better understanding of what I want to do in the immediate future with the abilities and knowledge that I have. For this reason, when I saw that they were looking for volunteers at the YMCA Scheveningen I thought it would be perfect opportunity for me! In fact, I have a little experience of cooking by volunteering for festivals, and working with kids has always been an amazing and fulfilling experience for me. Furthermore, I’ve never been in the Netherlands, despite their social and cultural importance, so the thought of moving to a country so different from mine in customs and ways of living really made me even more curious that I usually am. So, here I am! My hopes for this project are to make the most out of what I’m offered and to enjoy every minute of it!

Georgs from Riga, Latvia
I’m Slepe, or Georgs, and I’d describe myself as a mix of messy, chaotic, but peaceful. I’ve always been drawn to the unexpected, whether it’s exploring a city or wandering into random places that catch my interest. I’m fascinated by art, culture, and underground scenes there’s something thrilling about discovering hidden spots and lesser known places that others might overlook.
I’m passionate about history and currently studying modern history at university. But what really drives me is music I honestly couldn’t live without it. I’ve been DJing for the past two years, and it’s become a huge part of my life. Journaling is another hobby of mine, a way to reflect and process everything I experience.
My core belief is simple: “You are bound by nothing.” Life is too short to hold back, so I try to do the things I love whenever I can. I’ve had my share of heartbreaks, and one of the most significant moments was in Riga, where I found someone who embodied everything I wanted to be. That experience led me to create a version of myself I find amazing and profound.
In the future, I want to explore Europe or at least half of it before I turn 23. I might even randomly end up in an arthouse group. In my free time, I love discovering new music, finding new coffee shops, and checking out events around me.
